Ready to make some new connections? If you’re joining us at one of our Curated Speed Dating events, here’s everything you need to know to get set up for success! 

Step 1: First Timer? Start by setting up your account

Go to app.meetirlevents.com and create a new account using the same email as your Eventbrite account (this is super important!).

  • If you don’t see your event under “My Events,” double-check that you’re using the correct email associated with your Eventbrite ticket purchase.

    • Still stuck or can’t use your Eventbrite email? Email us at heythere@meetirlco.com with the email address you're using, and we’ll fix it manually.

  • Please please please make sure to save your log-in info… the biggest issue we have during check-in is when people can’t get back into their account. Don’t be that person!

  • Please note that this is a web application (used in your browser), so there is nothing to download from an app store. You can fill out your profile on desktop or mobile.

Step 2: Fill out your profile and add a photo

Tap "Profile" (bottom right), then click on the event type under “My Event Profiles”. Complete your profile by answering all questions.

  • Note: you may need to answer some new questions each time you attend an event.

  • Don’t worry—your responses are private and only used by our algorithm for matching! Only your first name, last initial and photo are visible to other attendees.

  • Upload a clear, solo profile picture of your face—this helps your matches remember you and leads to a higher match percentage!

    • You cannot check in to the event without a profile photo, so upload one ahead of time for a smooth check-in. 

Step 3: Check in at the event and enjoy the night!

When you arrive at the event, scan the QR code at the door (or simply navigate back to app.meetirlevents.com). Go to “My Events” and tap “Check In” on the event you are attending.

  • Note: if your profile questions are not answered or if your photo is not uploaded, you won’t be able to check in. If you get an error message, head to ‘Profile’ to see what you might be missing. 

  • You’ll use the app all night to find your dates and submit matches! A host will explain how the event portion of the app works on the night :)

Event Night Tips

  • Please double-check the start time of your event and plan to arrive in a timely manner. We allow a 20-minute arrival window so you can get settled before speed dating begins. If you're late, you may miss out on some dates, and it makes things more complicated from our side. We appreciate you being on time!

  • Depending on the venue, we may not be able to accommodate early arrivals – check your Eventbrite confirmation email for more details.

  • Wear whatever makes you feel great - we recommend first date vibes. Cute but casual!

  • Bring a fully charged phone—you’ll need it to find your dates, and we can’t promise that chargers will be available.

  • Come with good vibes and an open mind! The energy you bring to the event will definitely impact what you get out of it.

  • Help! I can’t see the event when I log into my account.

    This usually happens when you register with a different email than your Eventbrite ticket purchase. Try logging in with the correct email. If you can't use your Eventbrite email, contact us at heythere@meetirlco.com as soon as possible so that we can try to resolve this before the event.

  • How do I download the app?

    Our app is web-based and works in any browser—no download necessary! :) Instead, find it at app.meetirlevents.com.


  • Why does it say my profile is incomplete?

    A complete profile has a profile picture added and all questions answered - check the ‘Profile’ tab to see what you might have missed! If you've attended before, new questions may have been added, so you may need to review each time.

  • What does the app do?

    The app helps streamline the entire event experience. It will show you your assigned dates and table numbers, so you always know where to go next. After each mini-date, you’ll be prompted to select a heart if you’re interested in the person or an X if you’re not. You’ll need to make a selection before you can see your next date and table number. The app also allows you to add personal notes to help you remember each person—these notes are private and visible only to you (other guests and hosts cannot see these notes).

    At the end of the event, you’ll have one hour to revisit and adjust your selections before finalizing your matches. We encourage you to keep an open mind—if you're on the fence about someone, give them a heart! The more hearts you give, the more matches you’re likely to receive. Once the final hour is up, matches will be locked in, and you’ll see any mutual matches in the app. You’ll also receive an email connecting you with your matches so you can continue the conversation!

  • How does the algorithm work?

    Our algorithm uses your responses to create a compatibility percentage and prioritize dates with the people that you’re most compatible people in the room.

    We aim for all attendees to get at least 8-10 dates, so not all dates will be a perfect match, but they’ll still be fun!

    No answers are dealbreakers - so you may be paired with someone who had a difference response to a question if there aren’t enough people who answered the same as you at that particular event.

  • How many dates will I get?

    We aim for everyone to have a minimum of 8 mini-dates, but it’s possible that you’ll have more!

    The number of dates depends on the way you’ve answered your profile questions and the number of people who attend the event. Sometimes unexpected no-shows can affect the number of dates, but we’ll always do our best to maximize them!

  • When and how do I see my matches from the event?

    About an hour after the event, we will send out the matches via email, connecting you with the people who were a mutual match so that you can continue getting to know one another! At that time, you can also see your matches in the app. If you see matches in the app but did not receive any match emails, please check your spam folder. Remember, we have a no-ghosting policy—please be kind, communicative, and follow through on any commitments you make to other members of our community.

  • Can I connect with people that I didn’t get set up on a date with / Can you connect me with someone directly?

    Yes! We place Meet IRL connection cards around the room for you to offer your number to anyone. If there are people at the event that you didn’t have a mini date with, it’s likely because they were not the best match for you based on the profile questions, but we always encourage everyone to meet and mingle with as many people as possible before and after the event.

    You are free to give your number to anyone you meet at the event, but you’ll only be able to ‘heart’ the people you meet on dates within the app.

    Please note, once the matches are sent, we do not have the ability to manually connect you with any attendees who were not mutual matches.

  • Can other attendees or anyone else see my personal details?

    No. Attendees only see your first name, last initial, and profile photo—not your answers or last name. Your data is securely stored and never shared with third parties outside of our company and our app partner. See our privacy policy here.

  • What is the structure of the event?

    Our Speed Dating events typically begin with a 20-minute arrival window where attendees can check in, grab a drink, and participate in an icebreaker activity to start meeting people. We encourage you to arrive on time so you can chat with as many people as possible and get relaxed before the dates officially start. 

    Once the event begins, you’ll use our app to see your dates and assigned table numbers. Each date round lasts about 6 minutes—enough time to get a feel for whether there’s a spark, but short enough to keep the mystery alive! Each table will have some conversation starter questions, just incase you need a few prompts.

    Not everyone will have a date in every round, and any free rounds can be used to grab a drink or take a break. There will also be a short intermission for all attendees midway through the speed dating rounds to give you time to take a breather, grab a drink or use the restroom.

    After the dates end, there’s usually some extra time available to mingle! This is a great time to continue conversations or introduce yourself to anyone you didn’t get a chance to meet on a mini-date. Don’t forget—you’ll have one hour after the final date to finalize your matches in the app.

  • I can no longer attend the event, can I get a credit or a refund?

    Due to the highly curated nature of our events, we do not offer refunds, credits, or transfers to another event. This is similar to the policy of any other professional events company or ticketed venue. Ultimately, we pride ourselves on the quality of our events, and a big part of that is ensuring the right mix of people attend. We receive an extraordinarily high number of last-minute refund requests, many of them likely stemming from the natural anxiety that can come with attending an event like this. We’ve found that keeping tickets high-stakes helps ensure strong attendance to make it a great event for those who do attend. Please consider that when you no-show at our event, it negatively impacts the experience of other attendees.

    That said, we totally understand that things come up, so we do offer the opportunity to transfer your ticket to a friend. To utilize this option, please email us at heythere@meetirlco.com at least 24 hours before the event to let us know their name and email address. Please note that while we do our best to respond promptly, we may not be able to reply to emails on the day of the event.

  • What time should I get there?

    Do yourself (and us) a favor and arrive during the arrival window listed in your Eventbrite order confirmation email. The timing of this event is important — if you arrive late, we cannot guarantee that you'll be able to participate, and refunds will not be given. Please note that at some venues, we may not be able to accommodate early arrivals (e.g. if the arrival window starts when the venue opens) — check your order confirmation for details.
